Week - 13

bionic person - I definitely would support the idea of a "bionic" person. I don't see why a technology would not be used if it can benefit someone - now I'm not talking that it should be used in the "super hero or villain" sense - but if a person loses an eye and it can be replaced by a bionic eye - giving the person regular vision and not the ability to "read the fine print" a mile away sounds fine by me

control of artificial limbs - I would think that the control of artificial limbs....which is already happening....is the only logical next step. Why...or even how..... would we continue to advance a technology without making ....what would seem anyway...easier for the user. Again - not talking about giving the user extra and above normal abilities compared to the "average man"

Week - 12

Acupuncture - Acupuncture at its very foundation is a "energy medicine." The very definition is balancing deranged energy flows as a result of a physical, emotional or mental trauma....isn't this what we are studying here!

Kirilin Photography - My own experience with this photograph is that if the person reading it is skilled enough - they can tell things about your history that is just unbelievable. I had a practitioner read mine and ask questions that happened years ago that were still showing up in the photographs....but if one is skeptical enough, you can find explanations as a hoax or like a taro card reading or something

intent - I think intent has a huge affect in health - maybe not so much on the part of the practitioner, but rather the patient. If someone decides to "beat cancer" rather than accept their fate - studies show that the ones with the most "intent" in some cases have beaten it - rather than no one that survives that doesn't try at all

Week - 11

"living system" - In this case, I'm choosing to answer this question based on my spirituality. In Native American belief - everything from stone to wind to animal is a living system. I believe that the argument for any answer is based on what someone "believes" - whether its science or some other aspect of religion or spiritual beliefs

Biophysics and TCM - I believe it takes something as complicated and diverse to try and explain what happens in TCM verses western medicine.....or in most cases, similarly. neither medicine is complete and both are necessary to the longevity of society.

Week - 10

E-prime - only when you pay attention to how much ...or little in most cases...."e-prime" is used does it stand out just how much language has changed just in the last twenty years or so. I think the amount of time kids....and some adults....spend texting or emailing each other and lose the ability....or never learn..... to have a face to face conversation. I ride the Bart 45min each way and have been through days of riding without hearing a conversation between people - everyone has their headphone in their ears - how do start a conversation without "disturbing" someone while they are in "their own little world"

synthesize East and West - by the first couple of lines in the article - the east and west are already "synthesized" - in the fact that the data in TCM is compiled...but nobody can understand it or talk about it in a "western science" sense

Week - 9

newton's three laws - finally something that I actually understand.....to bad its just not that simple or "absolute"

energy efficient - I think that as a group - we have the technology to be a very "energy efficient" world society.....as it stands now we are a very "energy consumption efficient" world society. The more energy sources we find, we find more ways to consume it

Descartes - Well he definitely raises alot of questions - some seem to have been answered- some are still trying to be proven and answered - so given the time and age - the thinking seems to be sound..... given physics is still trying to define "experiments" by mathematics

Week - 8

"Ordered Chaos" - 1000 covers on a mothers day off the ala' carte menu is "ordered chaos"

Fractals - I believe that evolution is the prime example of fractals in a complex system. Over millions of years a small change in either weather or diet (on larger scales) causes change.....sometimes its just a few "particles" that cause change in a system

consciousness - if a separate theory needs to be made to explain "we don't know everything" - how can we relay define consciousness

Week -6

Vibrations - Since vibrations are the basic form of information - then i say yes all vibrations are good...its the information that can be bad

Resonance - This is a fascinating "thing" to me - to think that at a certain pitch or frequency an object basically wants to "be on the same frequency" and will pull its self apart to do it.

Connection b/t energy and qi - Studing TCM I can make the connection - the question is ....can I make a connection that the western scientist would understand and except

Week - 5

Asymmetrical world - It seems to be which way one looks at this question as to how best answer it - the big picture of yin and yang - two forces are always controlling and transforming into each other at an equal pace or energy...or...every action has an equal and opposite reaction

CP violation - I've read the articles and the website information...and really still don't know what the hell is! - something about particles and anti-particle that will cancel each other out, but only if they meet each other when traveling in different directions in time - What?

Sacred Geometry and Physics - seems the major and most basic connection is mathematics - both are based and studied by "math structures"

Week 4

E=MC2 - not only affected me - but every other person on the planet. I believe it is the true "beginning" of physics.

The 4 forces - I can't say that even after 14 weeks of reading about physics, that i can truly compair the four forces in a comprehensive manner. SO if I understand what they are - they try to explain the reasons of why particles act the way they do - either by staying together and forming something or be separating and "decaying"

Gravity - Seems to me that gravity's function is to hold things together - without it , particles wouldn't be able to hold together and form..well.. life! Without gravity all the particles would just float around and bounce off of each other.

Week three

Synchronicity - To explain it is kind of like trying to explain "faith" - in the sense that you either believe the stories in the bible or think they are great stories with some sound meaning behind them

Connected? - My personal opinion is yes we are all connected on some level - some people are more "connected" for various reasons - some are more "open" to others and willing to share a deeper connection - on the other end is the example of standing to another person in a line and you here them thinking "your to close, move away - your to close, move away" so for that moment we are connected

Week 2 - weird universe

Star date 2446.968 - we've just encountered Klingons near Uranus....wierd....this isn't their part of the universe, what are they doing here?..........wierd, wierd, wierd!

Week 2 - causality

I have seen plenty of causality.....if one believes in this sort of thing. Playing sports, athletes think their "routine" is the cause or effect of a hitting streak, shooting streak, winning streak..... the list can go on and on. My personal favorites are the ones where athletes won't wash a uniform or pair of socks because "you don't *&^@ with a streak"......now do smelly socks have anything really to do with the particular streak, or is in all "in your head", depends on who you ask. Scientists will say no way......the athlete that is 15 for 20 in the last 4 games will tell you "take your science and shove it up your a@#, don't touch my socks, you don't #$%@ with a streak!"

Week 2 - Uncertainty

For as much uncertainty that surrounds what quantum particles do and are for that matter, there is just as much certainty on what they do when "we" decide what we want them to do. If we want to measure light as a wave....it's a wave, if we want to measure as a particle....yep, a particle. Measure particles in a clockwise motion, OK, clockwise.....or counter clockwise....sure why not! It seems the only certainty is we don't know what they are doing while "we" aren't watching them in the context that "we" want to. I like to think that they are sitting around drinking beer and watching football.....certainly a possibility!

Week 1 - I'm a jackass

I have no idea why i answered all the debate questions and not the quiz.....except that i'm a jackass! Now that we have established this fact, i will try to keep my jackassedness to a minimum.......is that a sugar cube?

Week 1 - parallel universes?

If every action has a separate and equal reaction - and in TCM we are to believe Yin and Yang theory - heaven and hell - freedom of speech and the right to privacy - civilized and uncivilized - seems to me everyone believes in one of these thoughts......so I think .....sure, why not a parallel universe.

Week 1 - Cultural implications of time?

I'm waiting to see why different cultures have had calenders that have been around for thousands of years that all end in 2012 - seems there might be HUGE implications!

Week 1 - slow down time?

Can we slow down time? Well....I think we can slow down the perception of time. Have you ever fell down and it felt like forever...seeing each drop of water or each blade of grass flying in front of you? (Of course I've only heard of this sort of thing since I have reflexes like a cat and have never experienced such a thing) It may only take a second in everyone else's version, but seems like minutes to whoever is falling.
